Communion Fixation Spiritual Bypass

cascade-variant.communion-fixation-spiritual-bypassclinical register

Definition

Spiritual bypassing: the holding capacity clings to sacred meaning and practice as a way to step over unprocessed feeling, using elevation to avoid what waits underneath. Distinct from sibling consolation cling (low) by a defensive avoidance function rather than devotional attachment to felt consolations; from religious scrupulosity (Communion Freeze, doubt-fretting) by reaching toward the sacred to not-feel rather than compulsive purity-checking and doubt-neutralizing.
