Definition
A merger-and-splitting presentation fits only when social and emotional cues are being absorbed faster than they can settle and relating is simultaneously organized around the other at the expense of the self. Abandonment fear, identity instability, or idealize-devalue shifts can occur without that exact pair, so no diagnosis or symptom label decides the coordinate. Limerence is not the governing differential because it can involve fixation, fantasy, or pursuit without either required pole.
