Affectivity Collapse
Definition
Open and Emotional are both under-active at Affectivity. Receptive contact is narrow while feeling is flat or hard to reach, so each side offers the other little to work with. Both read as low rather than absent — an off-center state, not an interior emptied out; in one common presentation feeling still occurs and simply arrives muffled, sensed at a distance, with reception sealed off rather than gone. Where it reaches further it tends to follow reception's own reach — toward being known by other people most often, sometimes toward the body or toward awe — and to draw the other ways of handling feeling down with it: attending to it, holding it as one's own, showing it. That describes a profile that can be present rather than a spread the origin requires. The presentations differ in kind — a trait-level flatness with the reading of other people left intact, an acquired shutdown in caregiving or clinical work, contemplative compassion burnout, depressive or negative-symptom blunting, and derealized muffling among them — and support needs and order of recovery follow which one is present rather than the under/under origin itself.
