Affectivity Depletion
Definition
Open holds at its ordinary range while Emotional is under-active at Affectivity. Reception is available and working; what it would receive is thin — feeling arrives faintly, slowly, or not in a form that can be identified. From outside this often reads as even-keeled, which is part of why it goes unremarked. Where the shortage reaches further it tends to stay with the other ways of handling feeling — attending to it, owning it, showing it — which meet the same thin supply, and it can extend once along reception's own reach into bodily signal or into how the unfamiliar and the future are taken in. That reach is a profile that can be present rather than a guarantee, and the origin requires neither a total absence of feeling nor a fixed order in which it refills. Two presentations account for most of it: an occupational thinning that tracks role demand, and a wider pre-depressive blunting that carries a note of hopelessness with it. Contact with other people — being known, belonging, speaking for oneself — and plain physical action are what tend to relieve it.
