Definition

Open and Emotional are both over-active at Affectivity: reception runs wider than it can filter while feeling arrives above a volume that can be metabolized, and each keeps the other going. Where it reaches further it can draw in the other ways of handling feeling — attending to it, holding it, showing it — and extend along reception's own reach into the body, into other people, into the unfamiliar. That describes a profile that can be present rather than a spread the origin requires, and it does not recruit every capacity that happens to be available. The presentations differ in kind and in what they need: emotion caught from other people, intra-personal dysregulation with no outside source, vicarious imprinting in helping work, cue-triggered reactivation of encoded affect, a convulsive discharge held inside a communal frame that is itself part of what contains it, the lability of the weeks after birth, and sensory overload where the load arrives through the senses rather than through feeling. Nothing in the origin establishes where the content came from, that the state renews itself, or an order in which it settles.
