Focus stays fully engaged but the meaning it would track is missing, so the attending capacity keeps working the empty domain itself, building surrogate purpose rather than settling on real meaning — substitution rather than settling. Propagation runs through Spiritual and outward: Open and Bond lose ground over the empty domain as those capacities find no meaning to engage, and Focus extends its substitute work laterally into Mental and Relational where surrogate purpose can be built from adjacent material. Focus cannot release this by trying harder; supported filling of Spiritual comes first, the substitution's easing second.
