Definition

Settling carries Mental from Storming toward Lucid as represented activity ceases to crowd out living mental space. Thought remains intelligible while quiet and cessation become available. Settling does not eliminate thought or weaken intelligence. Quiet intellectualization, fixed rumination, and racing production can all instantiate Storming when they exclude living mental space. Attentional grip and affective participation remain separate variables whose changes require their own path evidence.
